A “visual refresh” for Instagram’s identity is being rolled out this week, the firm stated in a blog post on Monday. The new logo, typography, and full-screen marketing layouts are being introduced by the corporation. Instagram has announced a major overhaul of its platform, which it says will allow it to “create more immersive and inclusive experiences” for its users.
Instagram’s logo served as inspiration for the new design, which is dubbed “Instagram Sans.” Squares and circles, or “squircles,” are said to be the inspiration for the font, according to an Instagram post. Multi-global scripts are also part of the brand-new typeface. Instagram Sans, according to the business, is a modern reinterpretation of grotesque and geometric designs. In addition to Instagram Sans Regular and Bold, there are also Instagram Sans Light, Medium, and Condensed italics. Play around with the new fonts if you want to.
When it comes to Stories and Reels, “Instagram Sans offers a new method for our worldwide community to express themselves on Instagram,” the business explained. “We wanted to make Instagram Sans available to everyone around the world when we created this new typeface.” The typeface was translated into Arabic, Thai, and Japanese scripts through collaborations with local language experts all across the world. To ensure that all of our creators and members of our community can express themselves completely in whichever language they choose, we want to make it easier for them to do so.”
The gradient in the new logo has been brightened up to make it appear “illuminated and alive,” according to the business. According to Instagram, a 3D modeling approach was used to redesign the gradient. “Content forward” and “simplicity” are the words Instagram uses to describe its new full-screen marketing style.
Instagram has been testing a full-screen home feed similar to TikTok, which coincides with the launch of the full-screen marketing layouts. If you look at the history of Instagram, you’ll notice that whenever a change is made to the layout, there is a backlash. You may still utilize the bottom navigation bar to reach the discovery tab, Reels, commerce, and your own page in the test of the full-screen home feed. Switching accounts, posting, checking notifications, and looking through messages are all still available from the top bar.
